(a) Determine the exterior dimension, L, of the heat exchanger core for a sheet thickness of t = 0.8 mm for pure aluminum (k al = 237 W/m ∙ K) and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF, kpv = 0.17 W/m ∙ K) sheets. Neglect the thickness of the top and bottom exterior plates.
(b) Plot the heat exchanger core dimension as a function of the sheet thickness for aluminum and PVDF over the range 0 < t < 1 mm.
