Data Set 16: Earthquake Measurements Fifty matched pairs of magnitude/depth measurements randomly selected from 10,594 earthquakes recorded in one year from a loca- tion in southern California. MAG is magnitude measured on the Richter scale and DEPTH is depth in km. The magnitude and depth both describe the source of the earthquake. In the two tables below, magnitudes and depths are paired by their corresponding positions in the two tables. The data are from the Southern California Earth- quake Data Center. STATDISK: Minitab: Data set name is Earthquakes. Worksheet name is QUAKE.MTW. Excel: Workbook name is QUAKE.XLS. TI-83/84 Plus: App name is QUAKE and the file names are the same as for text files.
