Question:
A particular conflict within a team that I experience is when we go out of state for 6 weeks to complete a aircraft modification effort. When we go out I always feel that people's egos and work fatigue get in the way of the process. One technicians way is not the right way to get things done and should not have the final say on these matters. Also when you are working 12 hour days 5 or 6 days a week you can become tired and get cranky.
In order to combat this, we make sure to have all technicians meet about each maintenance item we are about to do so that we have the best possible plan to move forward with, each step of the way. We also like to make sure we don't work 7 days a week and will get off an hour early on the 6th day to go do something together as a team. These strategies allow us to make sure that nobodies opinion is left out as well as keeping the team vibe strong with dinner or going to see a movie.
I feel that the strategies we use to combat the conflict's we experience are the best way to go forward with these matters because they work. If I could add anything from this weeks strategies I would say that bringing a selfless attitude can be best because I find that when you have too strong of an opinion on how something should be done you can be detrimental to a team. I sometimes have to remind myself that things just need to play out and that if it works thats what is most important for getting the job done.
