2. Personal Reflection Respond to the following questions (Aim for two paragraphs in length): What was the most important or impactful feedback that you received from Lindsay on your proposal (A2 ) and why? What are the most challenging aspects that you've encountered to date in terms of working towards your final submission? How are you planning to overcome those challenges? What are you most proud of so far in terms of your work on this project?
3. Sources: List four research sources that you've found that will help you List them like you would in a Works Cited section]I am just interested to see what types of sources you are planning to incorporate into your final submission. You can use websites, blogs, YouTube videos, government reports, journal articles, etc. They do not all need to be academic journals!
4. Include a sample visual of a slide you will be using in your final presentation. The slide should include an image (picture, graph, pie chart, line graph, infographic, etc.), a header, a citation if you are using a visual that is not your own, and some accompanying text. I am looking to see that you are on the right track in applying what we have learned about creating effective visuals and organizing information in a presentation.
AUDIENCE ANALYSIS DOCUMENT PLANNER To support your critical thinking and writing practice, use the following tool to help you assess the needs of your audience/situation BEFORE you write your message . The information you generate will inform the development and content of your message. This worksheet was adapted from the original created by Kevin Stewart, Senior Lecturer at Simon Fraser University .
Who is my audience? (This section is based on Module 2, Lesson 2: Key audience considerations using the REALISTIC approach): What is my relationship like with this audience? Do they like me? Do they even know me? Do I report to them? Are they my customer? Etc. Is my audience expecting to receive this message? How might they react? What existing attitudes or beliefs might my audience have about the information/topic contained within my message? What is the primary language that my audience communicates in? Do need to use simple or complex language, and should I use-formal or informal tone? How interested will my audience be about this message ? Will the audience have a very strong reaction (positive or negative?)How sensitive are they to this information? When is the best time to send my message? Is it too soon? Should I wait a little while? Is it best to send first thing in the day, or closer to the end of the day? How intelligent is my audience? Do need provide a lot of explanation for concepts in my message? How much information does my audience already have about the background or reason that I'm sending my message? How much history or context do need to give them in my message?
What do we know about ourselves as the SENDER?
How do I feel about my message /audience ? Do I have any perceived bias? Am I credible? Will people trust me or do need to provide a lot of evidence or support for what I'm asking for/claiming? What impact might sending this message having upon me (positive or negative) ? What do know? What don't know?
What do we know about our PURPOSE?
Why am I writing this document? What is the purpose? Expositoryexplaining a point or communicating information (good news , neutral news, bad news) Persuasive: trying to convince someone to act Goodwill building relationship What are the objectives of the message ? What am hoping will happen as a result of sending this message? How can I frame the message to be important to the audience? How can I get them to quickly see that it's relevant for them to read?
What do we need to consider in terms of CONTEXT & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS?
What is the simple context of the message ? High contextinformation is inferred needs little explanation Low context most information needs to be explained because my audience doesn't know very much about the topic. Are there any factors that I need to be thinking about that could influence how positively my message might be interpreted by my audience? Think about legal/policy history, timingsafety, climate, priorities, resource constraints, risks, professional image, resistance, etc. Consider a PESTLE analysis to assist, as one tool
