In a recent study, executives categorized their outsourcing activities. Table 11.1 in the textbook illustrates the diverse set of outsourced activities that were reported on. Not surprisingly, information technology outsourcing (ITO) represented the largest number of responses at 25.8 percent. Approximately 35 percent of the responses represented the outsourcing of some type of manufacturing activity, with the remainder being business-processing outsourcing.
