A pump takes 40 F liquid water from a river at 14 lbf/in.2 and pumps it up to an irrigation canal 60 ft higher than the river surface. All pipes have diameter of 4 in. and the flow rate is 35 lbm/s. Assume the pump exit pressure is just enough to carry a water column of the 60 ft height with 15 lbf/in.2 at the top. Find the flow work into and out of the pump and the kinetic energy in the flow.
