Rumors have spread about the possibility of layoffs and 2 employees approach Suzie "off the record" and ask if they are going to be laid off. It seems that the first, Gladys Pip, is buying a home and wants to know if she is on the list--if so, she won't buy that mansion she's had her eyes on. The other employee, Hermie Hemmroid, is thinking of buying the car of his dreams, a Toyota SDB (safety deposit box with an engine), which he won't buy if he's on the list.
Suzie tells Gladys that she's not at liberty to discuss any confidential personnel actions and thus, cannot advise her one way or the other. She then tells Hermie "off the record" that he is on the list but keep their discussion confidential.
