A 3 m long, 1.25-in, BWG 14 copper tube is used to condense ethanol at 3 bar pressure. Cooling water at 30°C flows through the inside of the tube at a high rate such that the wall temperature may be assumed to be 30°C and the inside heat transfer coefficient may be assumed to be much greater than the outside coefficient. Determine how much vapor will condense (kg/h) assuming no fouling resistance for the following cases:
The tube is oriented vertically.
The tube is oriented horizontally.
