The P&ID shown in Figure P1.31 is for the feed section of a process in which a feed enters a tank and then is pumped through one of two pumps placed in parallel. The liquid then passes through a control valve that is used to regulate the level in the feed tank. Normally closed valves are shown shaded in black. Redraw this P&ID for the situation where the liquid level in the tank is used to regulate the flow into the tank and the discharge from the pumps is controlled through a flow controller using the signal from an orifice meter.
