Table 12.3 contains data from a randomized, double-blind, placebocontrolled trial that examined the effects of calcium supplementation on blood pressure in normotensive men. After establishing a baseline blood pressure measurement, subjects were assigned to either a treatment group or placebo control group. The treatment group was supplemented with 1500 mg of calcium per day for a 12-week period. The control group received an identical-looking placebo.
