Ichinose et al. (A-20) studied the involvement of endogenous tachykinins in exercise-induced airway narrowing in patients with asthma by means of a selective neurokinin 1-receptor antagonist, FK-888. Nine subjects (eight male, one female) ages 18 to 43 years with at least a 40 percent fall in the specific airway conductance participated in the study. The following are the oxygen consumption (ml/min) data for the subjects at rest and during exercise while under treatment with a placebo and FK-888:
