Ask your library to supply you with some back copies of the Financial Times and find a company which has made a rights issue. Using EXTEL

(or some similar source) discover what you can about the company's financial history and capital structure. Discover what the price of the shares was before and after the issue. To what extent does this coincide with the price predicted by the method used in the text? What factors, if any, may have caused the values to diverge?
