To expand your job search, push yourself to join groups that may be uncomfortable for you. Most of us have some social anxiety when meeting people for the first time, but the more you meet new people, the easier it may be. Look for professional associations near you and register to attend a meeting. At the meeting, look for one or two friendly looking people and introduce yourself. Spend some time observing how people behave and interact with each other and decide whether this is a place where you could feel comfortable returning. If you do, try to make one or two new connections each time.
