Question:

Concepts, part 2.

For each of the following situations, state whether you would use a chi-square goodness-of-fit test, a chi-square test of homogeneity, a chi-square test of independence, or some other statistical test.

a) A fitness center wants to identify its potential customers by looking into two age categories (31 to 40 years old and 41 to 50 years old) and the type of fitness training (strength building, aerobic fitness, or balance developing) they do. Data were collected randomly from the two age groups to perform a test.

b) Training programs were provided by a group of corporate companies in hopes of improving their employees’

performance. One company recorded the number of training hours attempted by its sales staff to determine whether it is relative to the number of sales made by them.

c) A review was conducted to find out whether there is a relationship between the type of transaction made (credit cards, direct bank debit, or e-wallets) by customers for online purchasing and the category of products purchased

(home decor, groceries, or electronics). A random sample of 500 transactions were reviewed to perform a test.
