A card is then picked at random.

a. Calculate the theoretical probability of picking the 2.

b. Calculate the theoretical probability of not picking the 2. 

There are two ways in which this can be calculated.

As there are two other numbers, other than 2, and they are as equally likely to be picked, the probability of not picking 2 is 2/3. Alternatively as the probability of picking 2 is 1/3, then the probability of not picking 2 is calculated as 1− 1/3 = 2/3.
