Interview a friend or a family member whom you consider to be ‘engaged’ at work and ask him or her what is energy draining (job demands) and what is energizing at work (job resources). Repeat the same with a friend or a family member whom you consider to be ‘stressed’. Most likely in the former case the number of demands will outweigh the number of resources, whereas in the latter case the reverse will be true. Keep Tables 12.1 and 12.4 in mind while interviewing.
