The increasing perception is that IFRS is overly complex and is complicating the search for appropriate forms of financial reporting for entities not covered by the EU Regulation. Discuss:

(a) Whether the current criteria for defining small and medium-sized companies are appropriate; 

(b) To what extent the provisions of the new Accounting Directive might alleviate the problem.
