Although New York City’s mass transit system is the largest in the country, it is not the only one that is heavily subsidized by taxpayers— in fact, as far as we know, all mass transit systems are heavily subsidized by taxpayers. Suggest at least one economic and one political reason why these systems are heavily subsidized.
