If your course involves exercises with a CFD software equipped with automated grid generation algorithm, try to generate grids for several simple shapes: a pipe of circular cross section, a spherical ball, a duct of rectangular cross section, a 2D channel with a backward-facing step, and so on. In each case, create a grid with clustering near the walls. Try different cell shapes and different algorithms of grid generation, if available. Analyze the quality of each grid.
