How have lean start-up methodologies helped Dropbox?

Dropbox is a fi le-hosting, cloud storage and transfer service founded by MIT students Drew Houston and Arash Ferdowsi in 2007 with initial funding from seed accelerator Y Combinator. It was launched in 2008. The beta phase of version 1.0 was offered to private clients in 2010 and Dropbox Business made the service available to larger teams in 2011. After further testing, a collaboration tool was introduced allowing users to collaborate in developing and processing text. Dropbox is now available to the general public using a freemium business model with free fi le storage and transfer up to a certain size with paid subscriptions available for extra storage capacity and additional features. Dropbox Business offers more functionality for teams, including collaboration tools, advanced security and unlimited fi le storage and recovery.
