6. (LO 2.4) The Receivables Past Due data set contains a list of outstanding invoices for a fictional company, but the data aren’t ready for analysis yet. Using this data file, take the following steps to ensure data quality in Excel:

a. Assess date types. Are they uniform?

b. When date types are not uniform, analysis concerned with time series data is more difficult to perform. Adjust the data type for the Due Date so that all the data are uniform by right-clicking and selecting Format Cells.

c. The column indicating Days Past Due includes the word “days,” so the data in this field cannot be used in calculations, such as computing averages and ranges of days past due. Remove the word “ days” (including the leading space) from the Days Past Due field and ensure that the new data type is numerical by right-clicking and selecting Format Cells.
