Disruptive students often rationalize their inappropriate behavior by blaming it on the teacher:

“I’ll treat Mr. Lee with respect when he treats me with respect.” Unfortunately, teachers often rationalize their negative behavior toward a student by blaming it on the student: “I’ll respect Nicole when she respects me.” Using the levels of moral cognitive development, explain why the student’s rationalization is understandable but the teacher’s is not.
