Go to the website of any major company. Find the “Investor Relations” or “About Our Company” section and access either the company’s annual report or its Form 10-K. Find the financial statements and look at the notes that follow the financial statements. The first note should relate to significant accounting policies. Find an example of an accounting policy that is an application of each of the following financial measurement concepts: recognition, valuation, and classification. Write a brief report of your findings and be prepared to discuss them in class.
