The preparation of a Career Portfolio can be an extremely useful tool in helping you make the transition from school to work. The purpose of the portfolio is to assist you in collecting, organizing, and documenting data, information, work samples, achievements, and skills related to a specific career area. A Career Portfolio can be created very simply by purchasing a 1 1/2- to 2-inch binder and inserting dividers.

One divider in your Career Portfolio should be labeled “Resume.” A resume states your education, work experience, and qualifications. Your resume should be accurate, honest, and perfect in every respect. It is preferable to limit the resume to one typed page.

3. Keep several copies of your resume in your Career Portfolio.
