A new method for polishing the inside of ferrules used in optical fiber connectors involves a wire that reciprocates through the ferrule opening. We would like to determine the velocity profile of the abrading fluid surrounding the wire. The geometry is shown in the Figure P6.31. Assume that the wire/ferrule combination is so long that end effects on the flow are negligible. You may also neglect the fact that the wire spins about its axis.
