In 2015, the share price of Volkswagen fell dramatically when the US Environmental Protection Agency announced that many of their cars had ‘defeat devices’ that led to a mis-measurement of carbon emissions. However, within 2 months of the scandal, Volkswagen’s share price had recovered much of its losses. Is this consistent with a behavioural finance interpretation?
