Jembe Banks is a regional bank that is headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, and has branches throughout Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Illinois.
The bank currently employs nearly 350 employees at its headquarters and more than 2,300 employees at its various branches.
Each year, the HR team at Jembe Banks conducts a benefits survey designed to measure employees’ preferences and attitudes regarding different benefits, as well as which benefits they plan to enroll in during the next fiscal year. At the end of each year’s survey, the HR team provides the following open-ended question: “Is there a benefit that you would like for Jembe to offer in the future? Explain why.” After reviewing responses from last year’s survey, the HR team discovered that 121 employees out of the 899 who completed the survey stated that they wanted Jembe to offer paid parental leave.
