Alternative Accounting Methods for By-Products Reconsider the facts in Exhibit 17-2. Prepare a specific description of how the partial income statements for both years would be changed and how net income would be affected if the following accounting methods were used:

a. Net revenue from by-product sold shown as additional revenue.

b. Net revenue from by-product sold shown as other income near the bottom of an income statement.

c. Gross revenue from by-product sold shown as reduction of cost of major product produced.

d. Net revenue from by-product sold shown as deduction from cost of major product produced.

For methods c and d prepare a tabular comparison that is similar to Exhibit 17-2.
