Question:

An Argument About Pricing A column in a newspaper contained the following:

Dear Miss Lovelorn: My husband and I are in constant disagreement because he drives 10 miles to work every day, and drives a mile in the opposite direction to pick up and deliver the man who rides with him. For this service the man pays $2 every other week toward gas. Bus fare would cost $5 each week. I say this fellow should pay at least $3 each week, which would be onehalf the cost for the week’s gas. But my husband says he can’t just ask him for the money, so he settles for this arrangement month after month. We have three children and are in debt for several hundred dollars, and even this $3 a week would really help, as we live on a very tight budget. Am I reasonable to think the gas expense should be split 50-50?

As Miss Lovelorn, write a reply. lop5
