I have volunteered with the Malviya study circle, Varanasi which works to provide basic education to the marginal sections of the society, so as to makes them competent to be enrolled in a school. However, it was a challenging task in the beginning as each classroom accommodated students of different ages, academic standards, family background, and thus each of them required a different strategy. We designed a very basic course content that suits everyone and gives a glimpse of advancement at the same time. Together, this platform evoked in me, a sense of priority for the mission of "education for everyone".
I always used to take tuition classes at coaching and demonstrations for the juniors at my institution. It worked to ease the financial burden of the college fees along with helping me to be updated about the current revision of the topics in the subject. Also, this fetched me the audience to perform and practice my teaching and presentation skills. This insights, not just helped me to qualify the examinations but also fueled my passion for learning and teaching even more.
I am now working as a Junior Research Fellow at IISER- Mohali. I have taken teaching assistantship in two laboratory classes which was a part of my research program. I designed the course, wrote protocols, and explained the key principle to students clearing their doubts. I liked the teaching experience and ended up taking voluntary teaching assistant duties afterward. Unfortunately, my engagement in the research curriculum does not allow me to be a part of a fixed schedule to be a teacher at any coaching institute. Thus, I started exploring the virtual reality platform for teaching opportunities and have been a part of a few online teaching platforms. This quest to learn better and teach better is to be followed forever.
