5 Rapid plant assessment leanness exercise: Form a team of four to five people and take a 30-minute tour of a plant or service business. At the conclusion of the tour, rate the leanness of the operation using the RPA questionnaire given in the appendix to this chapter. (According to the questionnaire's developer, the average number of yeses for over 400 plant tours was seven, and the standard deviation was 2.) In class, discuss those areas where leanness is generally lack- ing across all companies visited.
