Earlier we suggested a possible thought would be, ‘This is going to be really unpopular, so I’ll bring in consultants; they can take the blame.’ Is this a manager unfairly and unrealistically avoiding a proper responsibility, or is it a sensible way of dealing with a problem on the grounds that management is weakened by making itself unpopular?
