While the use of the term 'personnel management' is still widespread in organisations, people working in the field increasingly prefer to use the term 'HRM' and to label themselves as 'Human Resource Managers'. This has occurred even where the role itself has not changed to any great degree. Why do you think this trend has occurred? What consequences, if any, does it have for the way the management specialism is perceived?
