Piecework is the oldest type of incentive plan. Here, a worker is paid a piece rate for each unit that he or she produces. The differential piece-rate plan rewards workers by a premium that equals the percentage by which their performance is above standard. Group incentive plans are useful when the workers’ jobs are highly interrelated. LO.1
