How would you resolve the following situation?
You are the director of internal auditing. You provide the company president with a real service by each year reporting the number of deficiency findings discussed in audit reports, the causes of the deficiencies, the kinds of deficiencies reported, how the number of deficiencies compare with those reported in prior years, and the status of corrective action. These overall reports are in summary form and do not identify the branches or divisions responsible for the deficiencies. You would rather not show the organizations responsible because you're certain the president would use the information to punish offending organizations and thereby create problems in relationships during future audits. But this year the president asks that those organizations be identified.
