Your company uses all manner of lifting equipment in its shops. The equipment includes overhead cranes, hoists, and various slings and cables. An EDP printout lists all the 15,000 items of equipment in use in the shops, according to their location. Maintenance regulations call for periodic tests and evidence of those tests for each item of equipment — from braided wire slings to huge overhead cranes. Unsafe equipment, obviously, can present extreme hazards.
