David Allen, age two, was attacked and severely bitten in the face and ear by a dog owned by Whitehead. Whitehead admitted that the dog barked a lot, was large, looked mean, and chased cars. On the other hand, no one had ever complained about the dog, it had never bitten anyone before, and it frequently played with other children. Is Whitehead liable for the injuries to David? (Allen v.
