Literature review:

Drawing on relevant Bourdieusian theoretical notions, develop a theoretical review

(circa 3,000 words) of your own experiences of being an accounting student. Use Baxter and Chua (2008)’s paper as the basis for your analysis (i.e. think of the way they use Smith’s experiences to illustrate how to become and then being a CFO).

And think of the following points in attempting this task:

• How do you define the ‘field’ of accounting?

• What attracted you to this particular field, and how do you rationalize your choice of being a player in this field?

• What sort of professional attributes do you think you need to become an accountant? How did you come to know that you require these attributes?

• How do you experience the competition or the game in the field? What strategies do you see people using to play the game? How do you relate these strategies to specific types of capital and forms of embodiment?
