Prosocial strategies (rational persuasion, inspirational appeals, coordination, collaboration) are based on soft power and are more likely to generate positive emotions in receivers. Antisocial tactics (legitimating, pressure) are more threatening and generate negative feelings. Be cautious about using antisocial tactics, but recognize that the morality of a strategy depends on the ends it serves. Consider your emotional–ethical threshold—how far you are willing to go to generate negative emotions in order to get your way.
