Car manufacturers (and others) are liable for design flaws that result in injury or death, that is, if consumers can prove in court that their injuries were caused by such flaws, the manufacturers have to pay damages. In view of this, comment on legislative efforts to force car manufacturers to include extra safety equipment, such as automatic seat belts and air bags, extra padding and reinforcement of the door panels, etc.
