In 1985, Cheung Yan started a small scrap paper brokerage in Hong Kong. When the market didn’t look large enough for what she wanted to achieve, she moved to the U.S. in 1990 to start a paper recycling unit called America Chung Nam. After discovering that there was a large market for business in China, she established a company called Nine Dragons, in China. The company grew rapidly, and by 2009, was projected to be Asia’s top producer of packaging paper, and the first in the world in terms of production capacity.
