1.3 What possibilities might exist for universities and similar institutions to create new learning environments for both students and faculty? Education providers around the world are moving into electronic learning (e-learning). This can mean many different things, and, to some extent, may be resisted by traditional academics who view the classroom as the most effective place for learning.

This suspicion as to the value of e-learning is further fuelled by lack of understanding of the opportunities offered by the technologies available.

Blackboard.com has become one of the preferred suppliers of e-learning solutions, with a wide range of clients drawn from schools, universities and corporate development functions.
