A bag of concrete mix is tied to one end of a rope that is looped over a pulley attached to the ceiling, and the other end of the rope is tied to a pallet of lumber (Figure P8.46), The concrete mix has a greater inertia than the lumber. When both loads are released from rest so that the system is free to move, compare the tension in the rope with the magnitudes of the gravitational forces exerted by Earth on the lumber and on the concrete mix. Ignore any friction in the pulley.
