Try It Out! You can build an Alexa Skill without any programming. Experiment with Alexa Blueprints or similar offering (https://blueprints.amazon.com/). Work individually or as a team to develop a voice-based system that offers some sort of utility—a quiz, information for students, an information utility, or similar product. When done, share your completed project with another classmate or team, and have them try it out. What worked well and what didn’t work well? What limitations exist in this technology? How good was the system at recognizing variations in the way voice is used to engage the system (e.g., differing phrases, accents, etc.)? Your instructor may ask you, or your evaluator, to present results to the class and share learning and insight with others. Those possessing additional technical skills or wanting to go further can explore how to create skills more complex than Blueprints. If you want to try another method, clear it with your instructor first, then share results of your experiences with your peers.
