An RFLP and a mutant allele that causes albinism in humans cannot be shown to be separated by recombination based on pedigree analysis or by radiation hybrid mapping. Do these observations mean that the RFLP occurs within or overlaps the gene harboring the mutation that causes albinism? If so, why? If not, why not?
