Flexible work schedules are becoming more common in the workplace, with an increasing number of companies adopting new policies to meet a growing demand for this flexibility from today’s labor force. A recent study by Jive Communications found that 37 percent of the millennials they polled feel flexible working hours are an “essential” requirement for a job, 32 percent would view a company negatively if it did not allow or offer the ability to work remotely, and 25 percent have expressed displeasure, with some even quitting their jobs, because their employers did not offer a flexible work schedule. While workers may want, and appear to benefit from, flexible schedules, the results for employers may not be as clear-cut.
