Below is the discussion and Response about discussion, you need to give your opinion after reading both:

Businesses are more careless when they operate business outside of USA. For example, Marlboro US-Based Tobacco giant targeted kids by its ads in Germany. By placing emphasis of being cool, it had promoted smoking trend among youngsters. Victoria’s Secret, a US-based company, was involved in the purchasing of cotton, raised by children in Africa. It violated the supply chain standards and partnered with unethical supply chain party to get cotton. Arrival of companies back to USA is a good piece of news, because it will force them to do business by holding ethics sensibly. Moreover, it will be good for the economy and general well-being as well. However, the presence of these companies gives strong competition to local competitors and outweighs them from the market due to which middle-middle and/or upper middle class may face economic downturn and shrinkage in their purchasing power.

Response: I believe that U.S. companies are not lax with standards when their business happens elsewhere because there are different standards in the other countries that the companies have to abide by. In addition, the products and services will still have to satisfy customers' standards in the U.S. I think that the responsibility of monitoring business elsewhere rests on the country that business is operating and the business' customers.

I believe the biggest hurdles that are preventing companies from operating in the U.S. are the tax laws and tax loop holes. In addition, the U.S. is focusing on businesses that provide services rather than manufacturing businesses.

I see Special Materials Company's global expansion as a possibility. Special Material Company currently has a few international customers and international sales offices in 3 locations outside the U.S. If the conditions are right, then international expansion may be an option.
