Choose one of these five issues you most identify with, or that you see as potentially being a challenge for you. Answer one of the following series of questions as it relates to the topic you are choosing to reflect on.

1. The imposter - “I’m fooling everyone” • Describe a situation where you found it difficult to make leadership decisions because of self-doubt. What did you think you were not able to do? What did you feel like? What reactions did you fear if you failed? How did you deal with the situation? What would you do differently if you found yourself in a similar situation again?

2. The rationalize - “i am not responsible for my failures” • Describe a situation where you rationalized failing to live up to your values. What values were you working around? How did you feel at the time? What happened? What would you differently if you found yourself in a similar situation again?

3. The glory seeker - “money, fame, and power make me a successful person” • Describe a situation when you felt an overwhelming need for external recognition or financial rewards to enhance your self-worth. What did it feel like at the time? How did you deal with your desire for glory? What would you differently if you found yourself in a similar situation again?

4. The loner - “i have to make it on my own” • Describe a situation when you retreated into yourself rather than accessing the resources around you for counsel and advice. What did you feel at the time? How did you deal with the feelings of isolation and stress? What would you do differently now in order not to be so isolated if you found yourself confronted by a similar situation?

5. The shooting star - “i must not slow down on the way to the top” • Describe the run-up to a situation in which you were becoming a shooting-star and what happened in that situation. What were the main feelings you had at the time? What did you do to recover? What would you do now to avoid the risk of burning out if you were confronted by a similar situation today?
