In measuring the strains applied to a symmetrical I-beam. a full bridge is used. Two strain gages are attached to the upper flange and two to the lower flange at the same axial section. The nominal resistance of each gage is 120 0. the gage factor of each is 2 05. and the supply voltage is 5V
(a) Calculate the strains in the upper and lower flanges if the beam is subjected to a bending load and the bndge output voltage is 40 mV
(b) If the temperature of the gages change (by the same amount), will the temperature change introduce any error in the results? Whys)
(c) Can the same configuration of the strain gages be used to measure strain due to an axial force on the beam'?
