Make a presentation including:

1. Executive Briefing.

2. Think of a project that you have recently completed at work (or that you are working on right now). ?

Prepare an executive briefing on that project for your leadership team (example: the CEO and his/her direct reports).

This should be a high level overview for strategic (not tactical) thinking and evaluation. .

(a) Here are some details: Overview. The overview should be brief, but should contain all of the necessary information, such as the purpose of the project, the sponsorship, team leadership, and the need (sometimes labeled as the “authority” or project mandates).

(b) Project Description. This, too, should be at a high level and brief, not burdened with detail. This section should include the project objectives; a description of the key stakeholders; the project scope; and, the budget (if appropriate—or “approximate” budget if the budget has not been established).

(c) Status. This section should provide the project status against objectives (example: “we are on schedule”); projected fulfillment and timing and project status (some organizations use “green”, “yellow,” (still moving, but with some obstacles and some “caution” as to meeting objectives); or “red” (full stop with major obstacles; unable to complete).

(d) Audience. Keep in mind that the audience is an executive leadership team. They have many, many projects in many stages of completion. Take only your allotted time on the agenda and be prepared for questions. 12

(e) Script. In these types of briefings, it is very typical to have a script (although it should be practiced thoroughly just like any presentation, and that is presented in “business conversation”
